This spring Adobe released some sweet features and enhancements in Photoshop CC 2015.

If you have used Photoshop for a while, you will undoubtedly appreciate these updates. If you don’t know much about Photoshop and want to learn more, these features will accelerate your progress along your design path. You will save loads of time on your projects and you already know what Benjamin Franklin said—time is money.
Photoshop has been around a long time and is a mainstay in all levels of design. It is an absolutely necessary tool in your kit if you plan to create digital layout for mobile/web design, utilize photograph retouching or digital file editing/creation. With performance improvement and quicker completion of design and editing tasks, Adobe’s 2015 new and enhanced features are very much worth learning.

New Feature and Enhancement Shortlist:

ARTBOARDS—Stand up and cheer! Photoshop now has artboards like Illustrator! Artboards are a powerful tool. If you are familiar with Illustrator, they are the life-breath of the program. Using artboards offers organization and versatility within your design documents. In Photoshop’s 2015 artboard option, you will find an abundance of common sizes for mobile, tablet and web layout. All layouts reside in one document so you don’t have to constantly move between different documents. Changes made to your design are dynamically updated in all of your layouts. This is mighty handy when you are designing for multiple interfaces. Artboards also can be added to existing documents.

PREVIEW MOBILE DESIGNS—This is a brilliant feature. As you design your layouts for mobile, tablet and web, you can synch your devices and dynamically preview your layout for accuracy. It’s not only fun to use, but very efficient.

LAYER STYLES—You will find added flexibility in the Layer Style window, including multiple strokes, inner shadows, overlays, and drop shadows. When you click the plus sign in the Layer Style window, you will notice there are additional effect options. This means you no longer have to group separate layer styles to get the effect you want.

LINKED ASSETS IN CREATIVE CLOUD LIBRARIES—Assets in Creative Cloud Libraries can now be linked so that you and your team members can use, change and update it across any Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign projects where it’s used. When a change is made to a graphic or layer, it can update any document that uses that asset. Invaluable when your team shares projects! Improved in 2015 are improved export options for saving your images and designs to PNG, JPEG and even SVG.

CONTENT AWARE MOVE—Adobe has combined two steps into one. Photoshop now allows transforming of your object and moves it all at once. No longer do you have to take a second step for one result—a real on-the-fly time-saver!

HEALING TOOLS—Healing Brush, Spot Healing Brush, and Patch Tools—This is definitely a software performance liberation! In earlier versions of Photoshop, these two tools made you wait while it processed your edits in large images. Now, both tools heal in real time—so, no waiting for Photoshop to process your edits. Hey, you just reclaimed a lot more time!

DEHAZE—In past Photoshop versions, to remove haze in photo took multiple steps and adjustments. Now, the Dehaze feature removes haze in your photos and adjusts the details of an image accordingly—it’s an all-in-one tool.

GLYPHS PANEL—The great news here is that Photoshop now has one—just like Illustrator and InDesign! The Glyphs Panel makes it easier to access an entire font library while it stores most recently used glyphs for later use. You can also enter glyphs and special characters through the glyphs panel—Adobe just made digital design much more pleasant! This certainly is another long-awaited feature that is extremely useful.
